Education- The Purpose

Studying is defined as a personal effort to gain knowledge.
Studying, in its most ideal, should be a session where both teacher and students are willingly and should show enthusiasm in both parties.
Studying, should at least require students to be aware of its purpose and for them to be able to appreciate and have a certain level of commitment in it.
But how many actually do that?

Nowadays, we see the purpose of studying fading away.
Of course knowledge still gets past down, but is it as efficient as before?
How many of us, still go to school everyday just for its sake?
What do students nowadays study for?
For the sake of getting knowledge?
Seems more for exams and tests for me.

People may argue that students nowadays are losing interest in studying and hence this education scheme will set them back on track and to 'motivate' them.
With the introduction of more and more forms of online entertainment appearing, people can be seen as losing interest in all other matters.

In my recent attachment to a school in Brisbane, I realised that the school offered subject choices for students, allowing them to choose their subjects like business, art, music, drama or electronics. This is based on their belief that different people have different strengths and they allow them to choose an area of their interest.

Is this anymore helpful?

Regardless, I feel that the interest in learning for students will continue to decrease.
